Shiraz is produced from the same grape as Syrah. Its a classy, spicy, hearty red which boasts a pleasing vanilla finish, a smoky scent and flavour notes of dark berry, black cherry and mocha, among others. Although its a full-bodied wine and one of the darker and heavier types, Shiraz red wine is also of the easy drinking varieties a bottle of this definitely wont last long once opened!
Shiraz wine goes with lots of food, so you cant really go wrong if youre planning to serve it with dinner. Its especially tasty with BBQ food. A large glass of Shiraz with a generous portion of slow-cooked sticky ribs is always a winner. Its also fantastic with grilled meats, steak, sausages and thick, tender stews, and as a partner to pasta dishes.
